It isn't allways easy to setup the connection between LabVIEW and your Advantech ADAM modules. Even with both the LabVIEW manual and hardware specific information, connecting the two may be troublesome.

Principle

Getting a reading from a ADAM module works like this:

1. initialize the comport
2. send out the string requesting for the information
3. wait a while
4. get the return string and convert it to a value
5. close the comport
