LabVIEW drivers - Bronkhorst pressure transducer

Bronkhorst pressure transducer

It isn't allways easy to setup the connection between LabVIEW and your Bronkhorst pressure transducer. Even with both the LabVIEW manual and hardware specific information, connecting the two may be troublesome.

Here morechemistry.com helps out in a special case where an add-on card with four additional serial ports seems to disable proper communication.

Bronkhorst provided 2 vi's; one as a VISA and one as a non-VISA version. The VISA version is allright on a PC without the add-on card. The non-VISA version only works once on a PC without the add-on card.

Solution

Making these few modifications will make the non-VISA work:

  1. set a short (200 ms) delay between writing the 'request for information' string and reading the 'current process value' string
  2. force to read 17 characters; the default size of the response
  3. separate the 'read from comport' and 'close comport' commands; e.g. put them in a different frame
