LabVIEW drivers - Ritter gas meter

Ritter gasmeter

Obviously the Ritter gas meter itself cannot be connected to a computer. However, using the Electronic Display Unit (EDU) 32 FP this can be achieved. The values as displayed on the EDU can be read by a computer through a RS-232 connection.

Principle

Communication with a Ritter EDU works like this:

  • open the serial connection
  • optionally read the EDU settings (e.g. selected gas meter and the power status)
  • optionally reset the EDU (e.g. reset the accumulated volume)
  • at fixed time intervals read the actual flow and the accumulated volume
  • close the serial connection

Downloads

ritter.zip
This file contains:

  • ritter init.vi
This vi opens the serial connection.
  • ritter flow.vi
This vi reads the current flow.
  • ritter volume.vi
This vi reads the accumulated volume.
  • ritter close.vi
This vi closes the serial connection.
  • ritter sample 1.vi
    blockdiagram of ritter sample program

This vi shows how to use the basic set of driver vis with a Ritter Electronic Display Unit 32 FP.

  • ritter profile.vi
  • This vi returns the settings of the EDU e.g. the selected gas meter and the power status.
  • ritter reset.vi
  • This vi resets the accumulated volume to 0.
  • ritter sample 2.vi
This vi shows how to use the full set of driver vis with a Ritter Electronic Display Unit 32 FP.
All these vis have been made with LabVIEW 8.5.1.

Remarks

This driver only includes the commands for normal operation, not those for setting up the EDU 32 FP.
