Tunisia 2006 EUCHEM Conference on Molten Salts & Ionic Liquids Molten salts and ionic liquids are both liquid salts containing only ions - they are thus the same subject. All that is different is the temperature. There is so much knowledge, both empirical and theoretical, which can be passed from the molten salt community to the ionic liquid community, and vice versa . Structure, dynamics, electrochemistry, interfacial and thermodynamic properties, and theoretical studies are essential for an in-depth understanding of the general physicochemical properties of these Coulombic liquids. Experimental and theoretical methods for investigating these data will be elaborated, as will techniques for data collection and analysis. This meeting will provide a forum to discuss the transfer of these methods and techniques between the differing temperature régimes. The philosophy behind it is explained, in detail, in Molten Salt Bulletin , 85 , 1-3, 2005. (http://iusti.polytech.univ-mrs.fr/MOLTEN_SALTS)
